One active member of a proscribed underground outfit, RPF/PLA was arrested at around 4.30 am from Uripok Thingel Leikai, Imphal West in front of Elite barber shop on Thursday by special commando unit.
The arrested person has been identified as one Yumlembam Joykumar Singh, 43, son of late Y Biramangol Singh of Jiribam Chandrapur, Jiribam district.
According to police, a based on a tip-off about the presence of an RPF/PLA member in and around Uripok Sorbon Thingel Leikai, a team of the commando unit under the command of officer-in-charge of the same commando unit L Bebekananda Singh under the supervision of superintendent of police, in-charge Khabeisoi special commando unit, Th Krishnatombi Singh rushed to the area and conducted frisking and checking in front of Elite barber shop, Imphal West.
During police activity, Joykumar was detained while he was coming from Uripok Baspati Leikai towards Uripok Sorbon Thingel Leikai in a two wheeler scooter.
During verification, it was found that the vehicle bearing registration number MN01AC -3346 belonged to one Pangambam Elizabeth Chanu, wife of Y Joykumar Singh.
On examination, Joykumar disclosed that he is an active member of PLA/RPF and working under the command of one self-style major Henba Singh; self style sergeant major Inaocha and self style lieutenant colonel Leingakpa of the proscribed underground outfit.
He further disclosed that he is involved in collection of huge amounts of money from general public and businessmen in Imphal valley area for fundraising of the outfit.
He joined the outfit through one self styled lieutenant of RPF/PLA Yumjao in 2021 (22 batches) of the outfit and completed basic military training at Thanging Ching Daibang, Churachandpur district.
At present, he is holding a rank of self styled lance corporal of the outfit, police said.
Joykumar was arrested at the spot by the police team. Later, the arrested person along with the seized items was handed over to Imphal Police station for further legal action.
