A combined team of Imphal West district commando and 4th Assam Rifles arrested an active member of proscribed underground outfit RPF/PLA from Heingang Makha Leikai Chingkhong, Imphal East at around 2.30 pm on Wednesday.
The arrested person has been identified as one Samurailatpam Sanjit Sharma, 30, alias Thoi, son of S Shanti Sharma of Kalinagar Ward No.3, Jiribam district and presently staying in a rented house located at Heingang Makha Leikai, Imphal East district.
A police report stated that he was detained from the rented house. On verification, the arrested individual identified himself as Sanjit and revealed that he is an active member of the said proscribed underground outfit. He also disclosed that he started working for the outfit in 2016 under the command of one Nao of the same outfit.
Further, he disclosed that he recruited new members for the outfit of Jiribam and Cachar area including one Kangujam Premkumar of Digli, Manipaur Basti, Assam in the year 2016.
One mobile handset was seized from his possession.
Later, he was arrested on the spot and handed over to Heingang Police station along with the seizure for further necessary legal action.
