Royal Riders Chandel observes World Environment Day

Around 50 tree saplings each were planted at at Living Hope Theological College, Modi village in Chandel.

The Royal Riders, Chandel on Tuesday took the initiative of planting tree saplings at District Sports Complex, Chandel Christian village and at Living Hope Theological College, Modi village in Chandel district as part of the World Environment Day which was observed on Sunday.

Observed in collaboration with DC of Chandel Mayanglanglambam Rajkumar-IAS, Chandel DFO Vijay-IFS, SP Chandel PH Mahesh Naraian-IPS, 8th Manipur Rifles Leikun, 21 Assam Rifles, HL Lovingson (Special contractor) and HB Thanison - Principal DIET Chandel, about 50 tree saplings each were planted at the two venues.

Royal Riders Chandel chief Kothyeldawn Khaling said that the initiative was taken up to support the programme of Chief Minister N Biren Singh whose mission is to plant 75 lakh saplings across the state within August 2022.

The initiative is being taken up as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav to mark 75 years of independence, he said, adding that is an important step of afforestation to maintain the ecological balance of nature.
