Rongmei Association condemns firing at Naga farmers

The Rongmei Chief/Chairman Association, Zaengphay (Foothills) of Churachandpur and Kangpokpi District (RCCAZ-CK) on Friday condemned the recent firing by Kuki armed groups on Wednesday at innocent farmers of Raengdailuang/Sadu Khoiroi and Thingpui/Laimanai kabui village while harvesting their crops.

RCCAZ-CK, in a release, condemned the incident in which a group of around 20 armed Kukis came down to the said Naga villages and allegedly opened indiscriminate fire at the farmers and terrorising the peace loving people of the area.

It is also reported that a stray bullet even hit the house of one of the villagers, it mentioned. It decried that such incidents continue unabated despite several appeals to refrain from such activities in the Naga inhabited areas, who are maintaining neutrality and adhering to the UNC declaration of May 16, 2023.

It appealed to both the warring communities/group, to refrain from such activities in the Naga inhabited areas in the future, failing which it warned that Nagas will be compelled to take necessary steps to ensure the safety of the people.
