A road accident that occurred along the National Highway-2 in Kangpokpi district, Manipur on Thursday claimed the life of one man.
The deceased has been identified as one Seiminlal alias Lalbem Tuboi (37), son of Paothong Tuboi from Gelnal village in Twilang area, who was a resident of Kangpokpi Nanglhun Veng Wars No 15.
The incident took place when an over-speeding truck carrying sand heading towards Imphal hit a two-wheeler around 5 pm Thursday along the National Highway 2 at Yaikongpao village, killing the rider on the spot, sources said.
The driver of the over-speeding truck bearing Registration No NL01N-1767 reportedly fled the scene after the fatal incident, the sources said.
On learning of the incident, Kangpokpi police and Kangpokpi Youth Union rushed to the accident spot while Kangpokpi police sent the body for post-mortem accompanied by a team of police and the deceased family and relatives.
