RIMS Hospital closes OPD services to give more room for treatment of COVID-19 patients

The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal decided to close its OPD services in view of the increasing number of COVID-19 cases and to give more spaces for treatment of COVID-19 patients.

The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal on Wednesday announced that its OPD services will be closed with immediate effect from Thursday until further orders.

However, emergency services including emergency surgery, emergency CS of Obs and Gynae cases and emergency radiation oncology cases will remain functioning, stated an order issued by medical superintendent-in-charge of RIMS professor H Priyoshakhi Devi.  

RIMS authorities decided to close its OPD services in view of the increasing number of COVID-19 cases and to give more spaces for treatment of COVID-19 patients, and in view of the curfew imposed by the state government, it stated.  

The decision was taken during the meeting of all clinical heads of the departments of RIMS held on Wednesday.
