The Official Language Cell, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal organised a one-day Hindi Lecture -cum- Workshop on ‘Functional Hindi’ at Banting Hall of RIMS on Saturday.
RIMS director, professor G Sunil Kumar Sharma; RIMS medical superintendent, professor N Sanjib Singh; dean, School of Humanities, Dhanamanjuri University, professor S Lanchenba Meetei were among those who attended the programme, stated a release.
Addressing the gathering, G Sunil Kumar Sharma highlighted the importance of Hindi as an official language stating that Hindi language is multifaceted, encompassing cultural, historical, administrative, economic and artistic dimension, it stated. It also contributes to the efficient functioning of the administrative and governance systems, he added.
He further appealed to all the professors and staff of RIMS to learn Hindi language to facilitate in communicating properly with those visiting from other states and the Ministry for national related programmes, it stated. Deputy director (Admn), RIMS, RK Mecolt Singh; CAO/FA RIMS, Sairem Sarat Singh, Heads of Departments, faculties and staff also took part in the workshop, it added.
