Rice distributed in Imphal East

The Lions Club of Imphal in association with Lions Club of Imphal North and Northern Hemisphere distributed 7kg of rice each to 80 families of Awang Ngairangbam.

As a part of the ‘Relieving the Hunger’ under ‘One Multiple One Activity’ of Lions Club International, the Lions Club of Imphal distributed rice to residents of Awang Ngairangbam, Khundrakpam Imphal East on Sunday.

A release stated that the event held at Awang Ngairangbam Community Hall, the Lions Club of Imphal in association with Lions Club of Imphal North and Northern Hemisphere distributed 7kg of rice each to 80 families of the village.

Speaking on the occasion, GST coordinator, Manipur W Bhaktaraj said that ‘Relieving the Hunger’ is one of the permanent projects of Lions Club International.

Recalling the founder of Lions Club Melvin Jones who was born on January 13, 1879, Lions Clubs throughout the globe conduct donation of food items to the needy from January 13 to 31, it added.

Vice district governor-1, dist 322D W Gopimohan said that the objective of Lions Club is to “serve humanity irrespective of caste, creed, gender or religion.” The event was attended by president of Lion Clubs of Imphal I Gojendra; secretary Th Nitish and other members.
