Resolutions adopted to address Manipur violence

A meeting was convened on Tuesday at Ima Panthoibi Sanglen of Thounaojam in presence of residents from hills and valley, following the attack on Langmeidong, Laimanai and Tejpur in Kakching district from Laimaton Hill range in Chandel district by unknown armed miscreants on Sunday.

The meeting was organised by a peace committee which was established under the guidance of Hiyanglam MLA Y Radheshyam.

Waikhong Police station OC TM Jakaor, villagers and chiefs of Langmeidong, Laimanai, Tejpur, Thounaojam, Yangdong, Elangkhangpokpi, Litan Kom Khul, Purum Khullen, Tampakhul and Lainingkhul alongside members of Arambai Tengol Unit 9 and representatives of various community attended the meeting.

During the meeting, resource persons addressed strategies to prevent further escalation of tensions among communities, reflecting on the incident of September 22.

The meeting also condemned the recent violence and adopted resolutions to support police in apprehending the culprits, foster collaboration with community leaders, and appoint representatives from two additional villages to expand the peace committee.
