Chairmen and Secretaries Association Tamenglong (CSAT) and Village Authority Chairman Council (VACC), Tamenglong district, have demanded for release of the pending bills of MGNREGS for 2021- 2022 and 2022-23 on or before August 13 failing which they will boycott the Indian Independence Day celebration in Tamenglong district.
Addressing the Deputy Commissioner of Tamenglong in a joint statement, VACC president Athanbou and CSAT president Makiujeiyang Gangmei stated that MGNREGS is a rural scheme which prioritises asset creation of works by enhancing rural livelihood and infrastructure development.
The ministry of Rural Development has released/sanctioned an amount of Rs 330.13 crore towards pending liabilities of 2021- 2022 and 2022-23. However, the state government is very adamant in releasing the same till date, they lamented.
The statement warned that if the NREGS pending bill is not released by August 13, then a non-participation movement of the glorious Indian independence day celebration in Tamenglong district will be launched.
