The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has demanded the Manipur government to conduct recruitment of Grade C-D government posts only after the Manipur State Selection Commission is fully functional.
Addressing a press conference at the Congress Bhawan on Tuesday, MPCC spokesperson, advocate Rabi Khan said that the state government had passed Manipur Staff Selection Commission Act 2022 on August 9, 2022 with an objective to conduct recruitment examination of Grade C and D post in free and fair manner and had issued gazette notification of the Act on August 16, 2022.
Later, the department of Personnel and Training issued a notification on August 31, 2022 for implementation of the said Act from September 1, 2022. Again, this department also issued notification on September 20, 2022 to take recruitment of the said post under the Manipur State Selection Commission Rules 2022, he added.
While condemning the recent recruitment notification order, he said that amid this situation various departments of the state government issuing notification for recruitment of the said post is unfortunate. Such recruitment notification demeans the said Act, he stated.
Director of Fire service department had issued notification for recruitment of 121 post on December 8, 2022; department of Education (S) had issued notification for recruitment of 1000 primary teachers on October 17, 2022; DGP Manipur had issued notification for recruitment of 136 number of follower male on October 17, 2022 and department of Education (S) issued notification for recruitment of 449 numbers of Hindi Primary Teacher, he informed.
He said that enactment of this Act gave hope and expectation to youth of the state that corruption would be uprooted. As such, the state government should conduct grade C and D recruitment examinations only when the Manipur State Staff Selection Commission is in a functional position, he demanded.
For this, the state government should take up the initiative to appoint a chairperson of the commission and its members, he appealed.
