Judge of the Special Court, POCSO, Thoubal on Friday sent rape accused Samurailatpam Ananda, 22, to jail on judicial remand till April 3. Anand was arrested by the Thoubal Women Police for allegedly luring a minor girl at his residence for tutoring and raping her on March 13.

When the accused was produced before Thoubal court on Friday, relatives of the victim and others shouted, ‘death for rapist Anand’ and people started storming the court complex.

The police had to resort to lathi charge in order to bring the huge crowd under control. At the incident, two women from Khangabok part III received injuries and they were provided treatment at Thoubal District hospital.
