Rahul Gandhi meets IDPs in Manipur's Churachandpur district

This is the third visit of Rahul Gandhi to Manipur. His first visit was weeks after ethnic violence broke out on May 3, 2023

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi visited a relief camp in Tuibong, Churachandpur district, Manipur on Monday and interacted with internally displaced people.

Rahul Gandhi was accompanied by senior Congress leader Gaikhangam, MP Alfred Arthur and ex MLAs of Pangal community. 

Rahul Gandhi interacted with the inmates and listened to their problems.

Meanwhile, Indigenous Tribal Leader's Forum (ITLF) represented a memorandum to Rahul Gandhi seeking his intervention in their ongoing plight.

In the memorandum, ITLF highlighted severe challenges faced by the Kuki-Zo community under the current state government.

The ITLF urged Rahul Gandhi to support their demands for a political resolution aligned with congress party manifesto promises, emphasizing justice and socio-economic equality for marginalised Kuki-Zo community.

Rahul Gandhi was welcomed with a large gathering at Churachandpur with placards that read, "We want separate administration", "We pinned our hope on you" etc.

It should be mentioned that this is the third visit of Rahul Gandhi to Manipur. His first visit was weeks after ethnic violence broke out on May 3, 2023 and his second was when he started the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in January of this year from Manipur.
