Relief Committee Manipur on Wednesday appealed to the state government to carve out a reservation provision for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in job recruitment in both state and private sector.
Speaking to the media at the Manipur Press Club in Imphal, chief coordinator Thoijingjam Bon Khurai highlighted that an eight-point memorandum outlining various distress and apprehension of the IDPs had been submitted to Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
The demands noted in the memorandum include, to provide equal and fair remuneration to IDPs languishing in relief camps of valley areas and Jiribam, to provide fair compensation and transparency in Rehabilitation and Resettlement, to provide/arrange a guest house at Imphal area for the patients, pregnant women, students staying in relief camps at remote areas, to provide free casualty/OPD and essential laboratory tests for patient of IDPs, to facilitate/accept CMHT card of IDPs at Assam particularly at Silchar hospital for IDPs of Jiribam relief camps, to pass and order regarding admission/hostel fees to schools/colleges for student IDPs, to provide job reservation in recruitment at government and private institutions and to stop the attack of armed militants and miscreants in the state with immediate effect.
As such, he further demanded authorities concerned to fulfill the resolutions mentioned in the memorandum swiftly.
