Locals of Heitup Pokpi Leikai, Heirok Part I in Thoubal district took out a torch rally against a case of robbery and life attempt on a resident by miscreants on Friday.
The locals of Heitup Pokpi Leikai held a protest, condemning the robbery that was carried out in broad daylight at the residence of one Thokchom Ingosabi and an alleged life attempt on his daughter-in-law by miscreants on Friday.
The protesters urged the authorities concerned to punish those involved. They also took out a torch rally at the premises of Heirok Part II on Friday evening.
The family of Thokchom Ingosabi, in a statement to the Heirok police station, appealed for the arrest of the miscreants.
According to the statement, Ingosabi, his wife, and their daughter-in-law Rima, 24, were staying in the house, while his son Jaydeep was posted in Rajasthan.
On the day of the incident, Ingosabi and his wife had gone to attend a ‘Phiroi’ ritual at Heirok Kabo Leikai, leaving Rima alone in the house, it added.
It mentioned that when they returned from the 'Phiroi' around 1 pm, they could not find Rima. After searching for some time, they found Rima unconscious inside the washroom with her hands and legs bound, her eyes blindfolded and her mouth stuffed with cloth, it said.
Rima was rushed to the Thoubal district hospital, it maintained. It also stated that the unknown miscreants had robbed her of all her jewelry along with all the valuables inside the wardrobes and closets of the house.
Meanwhile, HYO club, Heitup Pokpi Leikai on Sunday demonstrated a sit-in protest condemning the daylight robbery at Thokchom Ingosabi’s residence and the alleged life attempt of his daughter-in-law by the miscreants using drugs to make her unconscious.
The protesters also took out a torch rally at Heirok on Sunday evening, demanding the authorities concerned to arrest the miscreants.
