The Sangai Protection Forum along with local clubs and people of Keibul area on Tuesday took out a rally, demanding the construction of Heritage Park at Keibul Lamjao in Bishnupur district.
The protesters took out the rally, condemning the local MLA’s announcement to construct the Heritage Park at Moirang Khunou, which is allegedly in contrast with the state government’s announcement to fund the Rs 50 crore construction of the Heritage Park at Keibul Lamjao.
The rally from Keibul Sagram Awang to Keibul Chingmei began at 5.30 pm and ended at 7 pm.
In the rally in which more than 1000 people took part, the protesters shouted slogans such as, ‘Construct Heritage Park at Keibul’, ‘Heritage Park cannot be constructed elsewhere’, and ‘Sangai Festival should be held at Keibul Lamjao’ etc.
