Protesting against the Farmers Bills that were recently passed in Parliament, several groups, including the Manipur Loumi Lup, Manipur Loumi Marup and Agramy Kisan Sabha organised a protest meeting followed by a rally in Imphal on Friday.
RK Amusana speaking in the meeting said that the Famers Bills passed by the parliament has not only affected the interest of famers but also the food security of the country.
A leader of Agragami Kisan Sabha, Khomdram Gyaneshwor also said that the Modi government works for the interest of the corporate sector and make the lives of the poor farmers miserable.
The farm bills opposed by the famers group are the Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce( Promotion and Facilitation) Bill and Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance.
Sharatchandra, secretary All Indian Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Manipur said that the three bills provide more flexibility to the employers to hire and terminate their employees.
The three labour bills will benefit the industrialists and corporate houses but not the working class, he said.
The AITUC secretary lamented that the three labour laws which was also passed in the parliament is against the interest of the working group/labour class.
