Irate candidates of the MSPDCL and MSPCL recruitment process for 2019-20 attempted to storm the Chief Minister’s bungalow in Imphal on Sunday, demanding announcement of the recruitment result.
Security personnel intervened, pushing back the protestors to the Nupi Lal Complex where tensions escalated before eventually dispersing the protestors.
Speaking to the media, a candidate Yumkhaibam Mamoj lamented the government’s deafening silence over their long-standing demand for the release of recruitment results.
It is unfortunate that despite assurances from the Power minister to declare results by August or September, the timeline has now been extended to December during the ongoing Assembly session, he said, highlighting a stark contradiction in promises made.
Expressing their discontent, candidates announced plans for a hunger strike protest until their demands are met. However, the exact location for the hunger strike remains uncertain as of the time of filing this report.
