He said the traffic police wing has been taking necessary drives against traffic rules violators. With the development and widening of roads, speed driving has been increasing, particularly by the youths that often resulted in road mishap.

Lack of cooperation by commuters with the traffic police is also the main factor of traffic congestion and unwanted incidents on the roads, Ajitkumar said, adding that the commuters should obey traffic rules strictly and should be patient while waiting at red signal.

The SP continued that strict action will be taken against the traffic violators which included driving without helmet, without wearing seatbelt, without license, underage driving and others. He appealed to the parents and guardians not to encourage their under-age children to drive.

Ajitkumar further said that footpaths are for pedestrians and selling of products or occupying the area for personal purpose should be avoided immediately. If there is no space to walk on footpaths, pedestrians will automatically choose the roadside which is not safe at all.
