Addressing media at the state BJP office located at Nityaipat Chuthek, Imphal on Tuesday, Bijoy said that in some areas of the state violence related to election or ‘political terrorism’ has been increasing and necessary precautionary measures need to be taken to avoid such style of election campaign.

Such kind of political campaign by creating fear among the people is a ‘barbarian act’ and not a sign of free and fair election, Bijoy said adding that the state BJP strongly condemns the recent bomb blast incident that occurred at the residence of one of the BJP workers located at Khonghampat, the killing of two BJP workers by some unknown miscreants and even the Heirok incident.

Some of the intending candidates are using money and muscle power with the motives to win the election by hook or by crookcrook, Bijoy alleged. Such kind indenting candidates have the ideology that election is a business instead of serving the people as a representative, said the chief BJP spokesperson.

Various activities are witnessed as a present trend of election campaign which can lead to violence, the BJP spokesperson said and called for such trends be stopped immediately. All the politicians, irrespective of political parties, need to raise a unanimous voice to stop the changing trends of political campaign, he added.
