A team of Imphal West district commando on Monday conducted search operations at several places, including 160 total houses, as a part of the security measures being taken up ahead of the Republic Day 2023 celebrations on January 26.
The police team conducted search operations around 90 houses, including rented houses, in the surroundings of Sangaiprou Maning Leikai, Imphal West from 6 am till 7.30 am. During the police activity, 150 individuals were verified. No individuals were detained, police said.
The commando team also conducted house-to-house search and verification at Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai, Imphal West on the same day, police added. The operation lasted from 3.40 pm to 5.10 pm.
During the activity, around 70 houses were searched. As many as 175 individuals, including five bailouts of different underground outfits, were verified. No individuals were picked up for further verification.
The district commando team also conducted cordon and search operation at Gurudwara Mandir Stretch covering Delhi Motor, Dharamsala and Chamber of commerce areas from 3:20 pm till 4:25 pm.
Around 160 individuals were verified, while five persons were picked up and handed over to City police for further verification.
From 8.15 am till 8.45 am, the district commando conducted cordoned and search operations at Maharani bridge, covering Waheng Leikai parking area, Samu makhong area, Masjid road, and Uripok Chakri Kom area. Around 180 individuals were verified, during which four persons were detained and handed over to city police station for further verification. They were released after verification.
