Police conduct house-to-house search at Chingtham village in Thoubal

A total of 80 houses were searched and about 220 persons were verified.

Extensive house-to-house search operation was conducted from 4:30 am to 7 am in Chingtham village on Sunday by a team comprising OC of Khongjom Police Station and commandos of Thoubal Police Station under the supervision of SP of Thoubal, S Ibomcha, said police sources.

During the search operation, around 80 houses were searched and about 220 persons including male and female were verified. One individual, Chingtham Ratan, 32, son of Roykumar of Chingtham Mayai Leikai was detained along with 10 liters of DIC liquor from his house.

On the same day, at around 4 pm to 5:40 pm, a special operation was conducted in and around Chingtham Bamol Leikai area in connection with the by-election by a combined team of Khongjom Police Station led by inspector K Santosh under the supervision of SP of Thoubal.

During the search operation, 14 bags of yeast, which is used in the production of DIC liquor, were recovered from three persons namely, Sapam Ibemhal, 27, wife of  Gopal, Sapam Bijenti, 40, wife of  Shyamchan and Sapam Sanahal, 40, wife of Nimai. All of them were from Chingtham Bamol Leikai and were arrested from their respective houses. The apprehended individuals along with seized items were being handed over to the excise station, said the police sources.
