Pension cards distributed to HIV positive widows in Thoubal for first time

For the first time-ever, the district administration Thoubal on Friday distributed ‘Chief Minister's Widow Pension Scheme Card’ to 22 beneficiaries who are HIV positive widows.

Deputy commissioner, Thoubal A Subhash Singh provided the pension cards to the beneficiaries at a function held at the conference hall of DC Thoubal.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh had launched the ‘Chief Minister's Widow Pension scheme’ on November 2, 2021 and is given to the economically weaker sections whose annual income is less than Rs 72,000.

Under this scheme 10,000 widows are targeted to avail monthly pension of Rs 500 per beneficiaries. For HIV positive Widow and HIV positive single women, the minimum age for the beneficiaries is 18 years.
