Medical items and essential goods were handed over to the Paomata PHC, Senapati and three children’s homes based in Manipur by the Paamel Foundation on Saturday.
The items were handed over to the representatives of the PHC and children’s homes during a function held at the Babina Diagnostic Centre in Imphal East. The foundation is a charitable non-profit organisation which is funded and sponsored by the Babina Group of Companies.
The items included a new-born incubator (Neotherm Intelligent Advance Infant Warmer) for the PHC, medical equipment, studies material and edible items among others.
SDO of Paomata, L Angshim Dangshawa, who represented the PHC, informed that hypothermia cases among the newborn infants are very high as Paomata is geographically located in a cold region.
He said though the PHC has got some infrastructure for the delivery system, it has not received any newborn incubator from the Health Department which is essential for stabilising the infant in such cold weather.
“So, we approached the Pammel Foundation and luckily the foundation is providing us the incubator,” he said, lauding the foundation for taking up such initiatives for providing needy assistance.
“In order to grow together in this society, we need a collective and pro-active participation from all communities and individuals,” he added.
Chairman and managing director of Babina Group of Companies, Dr Dhabali Thangjam said the foundation was launched this year with the mission to support the marginalised people especially children by ensuring their basic rights and enhancing their dignity of life through health and education.
The representatives of the children's homes also expressed their gratitude to the foundation for taking up such a humanitarian act and wished good luck.
