Speaking on the occasion, Sakhi Devi said that the price hike affects the mothers of the society the most. Highlighting the adversities caused by price hike, she demanded the government to decrease the prices of essential items, including petrol and petroleum products promptly, it mentioned. She invited the different CSOs and public to join the movement against the price hike of the essential items, it further stated.

L Sumatibala alleged the government has been blaming global issues, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the Ukraine-Russia tension, for the increase in the price of petrol and petroleum products. She accused the government for denying their promise to decrease the petrol price after the state general assembly election, by increasing the price, it added.

As part of the event, a rally was also organised at which slogans such as ‘return the old price of petrol’ and ‘reduce prices of essential items’ were raised, it added.
