One killed, two injured in hit-and-run

The deceased has been identified as 34-year-old Miranjan Begum from Lilong Yangbi. Miranjan was on her way to Khwairamband Bazaar when the auto-rickshaw she was traveling with was hit by a Tata truck at Singjamei

A street vegetable vendor was killed and two other passengers in an auto-rickshaw were injured in a hit-and-run involving a truck at Langthabal Kunja under Singjamei Police Station on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as 34-year-old Miranjan Begum, wife of Abdul Rahman from Lilong Yangbi. Miranjan was on her way to Khwairamband Bazaar when the auto-rickshaw she was traveling with was hit by a Tata truck at Singjamei, killing her and injuring two other passengers. The truck fled from the scene after hitting the auto-rickshaw. The Singjamei police filed a case regarding the incident.

After a post mortem examination at RIMS, the body has been handed over to the bereaved family.

Meanwhile, a 74-year-old scooterist succumbed to his injuries, after he and his scooter (Pleasure) were run over by a Royal Enfield bullet bike near Khuman Lampak ISBT on Tuesday. 

The victim, who was identified as BK Vaiphei from Langol, underwent treatment at Shija Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on Friday. Lamphel police registered a case regarding the incident. After a post mortem had been conducted at RIMS hospital, the body was handed over to the bereaved family.
