A road mishap that occurred on Imphal-Moreh road along National Highway-102 on Wednesday claimed the life of a young man from Tengnoupal district, sources said.
The deceased was indentified as one Moting Moringson Kanshouwa, 21, son of M Methunpa Kanshouwa from Konaitong village, Tengnoupal district, police said.
According to the police, the incident took place at Leimanai Chingjin near Pallel under Kakching police station, Thoubal district around 3.30 pm Wednesday. Moringson, who was on a two-wheeler vehicle (Yamaha FZ- MN01U 4782), was hit by an unidentified vehicle. He suffered injuries and was rushed to Jiban Hospital in Kakching, but succumbed to his injuries.
A case has been filed in connection with the incident and the search is on to trace the vehicle and miscreants involved in the hit-and-run case, and the mortal remains of the deceased was kept at JNIMS mortuary for post-mortem, police added.
