One-day training cum awareness programme on RTI Act held

The main objective of the training and awareness programme was to sensitise the government officials as well as the general public to prevent and deal with the misuse of the RTI Act.

The Manipur Information Commission in association with District Administration, Chandel, organised a one-day training cum awareness programme on RTI Act, 2005 on Friday at the Conference Hall, DC office, Chandel.

The main objective of the training and awareness programme was to sensitise the government officials as well as the general public to prevent and deal with the misuse of this revolutionary Act that aims to promote transparency and accountability of the government.

The training cum awareness programme began with a keynote address by the Joint Secretary, Manipur Information Commission, G ShantiKumat Kabui.

State Chief Information Commissioner, Manipur Information Commission, Oinam Sunil Singh, spoke on the topic “RTI Vs RTP (Right to Privacy) and its present trends in the country”.

Deputy Commissioner of Chandel, Mayanglambam Rajkumar, spoke on the topic "Problem and the issues faced by the SPIOs/Public authorities while implementing the RTI Act, 2005”, while Deputy Registrar (Judicial), Inao Singh, spoke on the topic “length about the roles of SPIOs in Implementation of the RTI Act 2005”.

District officials also had a discussion on the nuances of solving the issues and the problems faced by them while implementing the act, during the interactive session.
