One person was arrested and brown sugar worth Rs 82 crore in the international market seized from his possession by a combined team of IRB, Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) and Lilong Police from Lilong Chingkham Makha as a part of War on Drugs 2.0 on Sunday.
According to police, the combined team led by Khabeisoi 8th IRB (CDO) commandant N Madhunimai along with NAB and Lilong Police seized the drugs estimated to be worth around Rs 82 crore in the international market.
After receiving reliable information of brown sugar being manufactured at Lilong Chingkham, the team rushed to the site, it added. The team then secured the perimeter of the residence of one Imem Bibi, 49, wife of late Md Salauddin, and began investigation by maintaining proper formalities, it continued.
The police team arrested one Yumkhaibam Mustapha, 19, son of Basir from Irong Umang who was working on the production of brown sugar, it added.
The team seized 54.645 kg of brown sugar along with chemicals, utensils, gas burner, cylinder and phone which were used in the manufacturing of brown sugar, it informed.
Lilong Police has filed a case under the NDPS Act against the arrested individual for further investigation.
