Manipur police reportedly seized 20 soap cases containing brown sugar weighing approximately 236 grams from the possession of one individual on Saturday.
As per police, the arrested individual has been identified as one Atom Boboy, 37, son of Atom Manglem from Pallel Bazaar.
On Saturday around 6.30 pm, following a tip-off from 16 AR regarding the movement of contraband items from Pallel to Khongjom area, a Manipur police team rushed towards Pallel after intimating Kakching District Control room and conducted frisking checking on the NH 39 highway at Pallel Leimangchingjil Area.
The police team detained Atom Boboy who was coming on an Activa bearing registration number MN04 D3597, black in colour, police source added.
After observing necessary formalities, Boboy was searched and 20 soap cases containing brown sugar were found from his possession.
The seized drugs weigh approximately 236 grams in total, excluding the weight of the plastic soap cases, the source informed.
The arrested individual along with the seized items were handed over to the Police station concerned for further necessary legal action, the source added.
