Oil tankers' drivers have called off indefinite strike as Consumer Affairs Food and Public Distribution Minister s assured to takle the security laspes and to take up suitable action against the concerned officials.
A release issued by general secretary of the All Manipur Petroleum Products Drivers Association stated that the ongoing agitation has been called off with immediate effect by All Manipur Petroleum Products Drivers Association and All Manipur BULK LPG Drivers Association.
The strike started on Friday following the damage caused to their vehicles on Imphal to Dimapur along the National Highway-2 by supporters of the ban on commercial vehicles imposed by the civil organisations in Kangpokpi as a mark of protest against January hit-and-run accident case.
The All Manipur Petroleum Products Drivers Association expressed gratitude to other associations namely the All Manipur Petroleum Products Transporters Association; the All Manipur BULK LPG Transporters Association; Manipur Petroleum Retail Outlet Dealer Association (IOCL/BPCL/HPCL/NAYAR ENERGY limited) and all other associations for giving moral support to the agitation.
The association also apologised for the inconveniences caused to the public of the state.
