Konsakhul Area Joint Action Committee (KAJAC) has suspended the indefinite bandh to be imposed on both the national highways 37 and 2 after Manipur government assured to discuss the issue of land ownership of NSU with Central Sports Ministry to review the proposed demand made by the KAJAC.
The assurance was made by Manipur government during a meeting held with the representatives of KAJAC in the presence of chief minister N Biren, forest minister, Awangbow Newmai and sports minister, Letpao Haokip at the chief minister’s secretariat on Sunday.
The government noted the points made by the committee members on the claim of the ownership of Konsakhul in connection with the National Sport University.
During the meeting, the state government decided to discuss matter with all the stakeholders and assured to request Central Sports Ministry to review as proposed by the KAJAC to bring an amicable solution at the earliest.
As per positive response from the state government KAJAC agreed to suspend the indefinite bandh on NH 37 and NH 2 with immediate effect from the midnight of Sunday.
The next round of meeting with KAJAC and state government will be held on February 13.
General secretary and convenor of KAJAC also took part in the meeting.
