The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) on Sunday stated that it is enraged to find out the nature of cold-blooded killing of its cadre late lance corporal Pouluanthai Gangmei of Reangpang Village, Noney district, Manipur on the evening of January 12 by NSCN (I-M).

He was said to have been tortured to death and thrown at a site frequented by public, ZUF stated in a release issued by its information and publicity secretary KD Gangmei.

The cadre had been on leave for medical treatment and was open with the public, confident that he would be safe to go free as he had been relieved from the fold on medical grounds, ZUF stated.

“However, the NSCN (I-M) hunted him and got him killed in a cold blooded manner. The ZUF/ZTF expresses that it was an act of utter cowardice and unbecoming for Naga Army to behave cowardly,” it mentioned.

“While expressing our deep resentment over the killing, we also convey our deepest condolences to the bereaved family and relatives who in such a time and manner had their loved one taken away from them,” it added.

“The Front had also paid revolutionary salute and moments of homage to our well-disciplined cadre at his departure from our midst. We also convey our appreciation and gratitude to the Leaders, youths and loved ones who had volunteered to transport and serve the mortal body to his native home Village,” ZUF further stated.

“May your benevolence service rendered in such a critically hard time and place, be richly rewarded by our heavenly Father. May God shower solace of peace and hope upon you all as we bear the moment of dark shadow overwhelming us but for a while just before the dawn of hope may shine upon our people,” it added.

ZUF further assured the bereaved family and relatives that, “his sacrificial death will be well attributed with possible recompense and recorded in the history of the Zeliangrong political determination and assertion for a secured homeland.”
