The Naga peoples' Union Imphal (NPUI) on behalf of all the Naga People residing in Imphal has enclosed a list of 20 Naga tribes presently living in Imphal for proper identification.
NPUI, in a release on Monday, appealed to the non-Naga fraternity and communities to cooperate and coordinate with the Naga tribes living in Imphal to avoid any future untoward incident and misunderstanding. It also appealed to the state and central governments to bring peace and tranquillity in the state of the ongoing violence which have hampered the livelihoods of all communities living in the state of Manipur obstructing in many ways upon human life.
The identification of Naga tribes living in Imphal are Kharam, Tarao, Mongsang, Moyon, Chothe, Khoibu, Aimol, Chiru, Inpui, Zeme, Thangal, Maram, Lamkang, Anal, Liangmai, Maring, Mao, Poumai, Tangkhul and Kabui or Rongmei tribes.
It also expressed their heartfelt pain to the three months long ethnic clashes of the two communities in the state and also share the grieve, pain, sorrow, sufferings, difficulties and inconveniences faced by the Kukis and Meiteis till today with Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and hundreds of fatalities in the violence.
It also calls for a cordial understanding by sharing a good brotherhood, good neighbourhood, good friendship, love ones, showing kindness to each other and serving a helping hand to each other for peaceful coexistence in the state.
NPUI also extended their condolences to all the hundreds of unfortunate deaths and prayed for their souls to rest in eternal peace.
