NPP MLAS clarify over ultimatum to Manipur CM

Ultimatum served to the chief minister by Joy Kumar Yumnam resulted in withdrawal of support.

Five MLAs of the National People’s Party (NPP) on Saturday declared that its national vice-president Joy Kumar Yumnam’s ultimatum to the chief minister of Manipur was served without consultation with the NPP MLAs of Manipur.

The letter addressed to NPP national president in Shillong is signed by the five MLAs, namely Tamenglong assembly constituency MLA Janghhemlung Panmei, Wangoi assembly constituency MLA Khuraijam Loken Singh, Kakching assembly constituency MLA M Rameshwar Singh, Oinam assembly constituency MLA Irengbam Nalini Devi and Moirang assembly constituency MLA Th Shanti Singh.  

It mentioned that the ultimatum served to the chief minister by Joy Kumar Yumnam resulted in withdrawal of support.

It clarified that Joy Kumar issued his statement without any consultation with the NPP MLAs of Manipur which should have ideally been done before coming up with such a momentous statement.

It requested for convening a meeting of the Manipur state executive along with the Manipur MLAs and Joy Kumar at the earliest to discuss the matter as an organisation rather than as an individual.
