BJP national spokesperson cum in-charge of Manipur Sambit Patra on Monday stated that the whole of Northeast, including Manipur was known as an ATM machine during the Congress-led central government but the BJP government under PM Narendra Modi has given priority to bring welfare and development for the region.
He was speaking during the launching of “Eigi Emung BJP Gi Emung” campaign at Lairenhanjaba Leikai, Thangmeiband, Imphal West. The programme was organised by BJP Thangmeiband mandal.
Patra said that during the tenure of the then Congress-led central government, the central leaders came to visit the northeastern states, including Manipur to take resources instead of providing welfare schemes,
developments and others. All the funds to be utilised on developments, including road construction, drinking water, and others for the welfare of the people not used, he added.
On the other hand, with the coming of the Modi-led government, the present government is focusing on bringing development with the motive that without developing Northeastern states, India cannot be called a developed country, Sambit Patra said.
For the Congress government, “family is the party” but BJP believed in “party is the family”, said the national BJP spokesperson.
Sambit Patra started the campaign by erecting a party flag and by pasting stickers to some of the residences located in the area.
Later, similar campaign was also conducted at Hijam Dewan Leikai, Uripok Polem Leikai, Uripok Yambem Leikai, Sagolband Nepram Menjor Leirak, Sagolband Moirang Leirak, and 5 other wards of Imphal Municipal Corporation.
