Proposals from eligible persons are invited for Padma Awards namely Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri along with relevant details specified in the format available on the website https://awards.gov.in.
Instituted in 1954, these Awards are announced on the occasion of the Republic Day every year.
The online nominations/recommendations for the Padma Awards began from May 1, 2023 and the last date for nominations is September 15, 2023. It is informed that the cut-off date may be strictly adhered to as nominations/recommendations received only during May 1, 2023 to September 15, 2023 will be considered.
The Padma Awards, namely, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri, are amongst the highest civilian awards of the country.
The award seeks to recognise ‘work of distinction’ and is given for distinguished and exceptional achievements/service in all fields/disciplines, such as, Art, Literature and Education, Sports, Medicine, Social Work, Science and Engineering, Public Affairs, Civil Service, Trade and Industry etc. All persons without distinction of race, occupation, position or sex are eligible for these Awards.
