No cases of monkeypox in Manipur: Health Department

Three cases of multiple skin lesions, including two from Assam and one from Jiribam were admitted at District Hospital/CHC Jiribam on Friday.

The state Health Department on Monday clarified that there are no confirmed cases of Monkeypox in Manipur so far.

Health Services Director, Dr O Sanahanbi Devi, in a latest release, said that as per reported by the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Jiribam, three cases of multiple skin lesions, including two from Assam and one from Jiribam were admitted at District Hospital/CHC Jiribam on Friday.

The statement stated that following the same, the Directorate of Health Services informed the Medical Team to undergo further examination and to take up necessary action.

It asserted that the crust skin lesion, blood sample, nasal swab and oral swab of the patient from Jiribam was taken and necessary samples were sent to the State Level VRDL, Department of Microbiology, Guwahati Medical College and Hospital on Sunday for confirmation of Mpox Virus.

The result came out negative for Mpox Virus, it maintained. It also stated that there are no further similar cases reported in the state.
