The National Identity Protection Council (NIPCO) on Friday commemorated its 24th foundation day in Imphal with calls for normalcy in Manipur.
The event began with attendees paying floral tributes to the brave souls who sacrificed their lives in defense of Manipur, alongside honoring distinguished personalities.
Addressing the media, NIPCO president Oinam Premjit expressed solidarity with the martyrs who fought valiantly to safeguard Manipur.
He also extended support to the thousands affected by the ongoing Kuki aggression, emphasising the urgent need for restoring peace and security in the state.
The president also criticised the government’s inability to ensure normalcy and protect lives amidst the prevailing violence in Manipur.
He accused the central government of divisive politics and alleged biases by the Assam Rifles on the side of Kuki militants which, he claimed, posed a threat to the Meetei community.
Lastly, Premjit appealed to the government to take decisive action and restore normalcy in Manipur promptly.
The programme also witnessed the presence of the president of UPF N Rupachandra; president of CADA H Priyokumar and president of MAPI Council KC Romeo among others.
