As practiced since time immemorial by the Meetei community, gifts were also exchanged between the various communities and the chief minister, and they were later served meals as a part of the observation.

Speaking on the occasion, Biren expressed his happiness to witness the womenfolk from all communities coming together to attend the occasion with smiling faces in their respective traditional attires.

He said, “Strengthening the bonds between various ethnic groups of Manipur is my mission and my dream since my childhood.”

Biren also recalled his past contributions made to resolve various unfortunate incidents and social issues for the sake of peace and unity in the state.

“Fortunately, with the blessings from the public, I am able to serve the public as a chief minister and address their various grievances and bring an egalitarian society in Manipur,” he added.

Programmes such as ‘go to hills’, ‘go to village’, ‘hill leader's day’, and ‘meeyamgi numit’ are introduced with an ideology towards making an egalitarian society, Biren asserted.

Comparing the various communities of Manipur as different varieties of roses, he said, “Let us bloom together happily in one garden as Manipuris.”

The womenfolk who attended the Ningol Chakouba festival also expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the chief minister for inviting them to such a festival, which reflects the bonds between brothers and sisters.
