Ningol Chakkouba 2020: CM Biren, ministers wish 'Ningol of Manipur'

Although the festival of Ningol Chakkouba is originally observed by the Meitei community, it now extends to other communities in the state as well.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh has extended his greetings to the people of Manipur, especially to the Ningols on the auspicious occasion of ‘Ningol Chakkouba Festival 2020’.

In his message, the chief minister stated that Ningol Chakkouba is one of the grandest festivals of the state which is celebrated on the second day of Hiyangei month of Manipuri Lunar Calendar.

“The festival is celebrated since time immemorial to strengthen the bond of love and affection among the brothers and sisters, daughters and parents of a family. Though the festival is originally observed by the Meitei community, the celebration now extends to other communities in Manipur emphasising the importance of happiness and reunion of a family in bringing peace and harmony in a society,” the chief minister said.

“May this festival foster the true spirit of love, goodwill and compassion in our society. I once again wish a Happy Ningol Chakkouba to all,” he said.
Works minister, Th Biswajit Singh in his message stated that “I extend my warm wishes and best greetings to all the Ningols of the state on the joyous occasion of Ningol Chakkouba.

“On the auspicious day of Ningol Chakkouba, married women are invited by their brothers and parents to a feast and give ‘Dakshina’ at the parental homes. These intimate and nostalgic moments strengthen the bond of love and affection between brothers and sisters,” Biswajit stated.

Forest Minister Awangbow Newmai in his message stated that “on the auspicious festival of Ningol ChakKouba, I greet the people of the state, especially the women folk and convey my best wishes. Let the festival further tighten the bond of love between brothers and sisters of the state.”

“May the festival foster the spirit of love, goodwill and compassion in our society,” Awangbow stated.  
Labour and Employment minister, Th. Satyabrata Singh said that “I join the people of Manipur on the joyous occasion of Ningol Chakouba, a festival that signifies a token of love and affection and bonding between married women and their parental homes.”

“Let as imbibe the themes associated with this festival to foster the spirit of brotherhood, communal harmony and goodwill in our lives. I hope this festival may strengthen mutual relationships in our society and bring peace and prosperity for a better Manipur,” he stated.

“I appeal to the people of Manipur to celebrate this festival in a very safe manner. My best wishes for a happy Ningol Chakouba,” Satyabrata said.

MAHUD minister, O Henry conveyed his warm greetings to the people of Manipur on the joyous occasion of Ningol Chakouba 2020.

“Ningol Chakouba is one of the important and biggest festivals of Manipur. This festival promotes the rich cultural heritage by strengthening the bond of love and affection between brothers and sisters.May this festival bring prosperity, happiness, love, peace and harmony amongst all the communities in the state,” Henry stated.
