The Tousem Area Students’ Organization (TASO) on Thursday submitted a memorandum to Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh through the deputy commissioner Tamenglong seeking intervention of nine villages being incorporated in Jiribam district.
According to the Tousem Area Students’ Organization president Nehemiah Daime, Manipur Remote Sensing Application Centre (MARSAC) recently conducted a survey, and nine villages of Tousem subdivision including Muktokhal, Tatbung, Phaitol, Kamranga Khasi, Ngahmunphai, Gamphazol, Khedagar Khasi, Khedagar Mikir has been incorporated into Jiribam district.
TASO claimed that the nine villages are under Tamenglong district under Tousem subdivision.
The mapping drawn by Manipur Remote Sensing Application Centre (MARSAC) is hurting the sentiment of the people and has no authority to take decision on any of Tousem subdivision villages without the consultation of the people living in the area, stated Nehemiah Daime.
They are drawing the attention of the chief minister to immediately intervene and put those villages back on the Tamenglong district map, in order to avoid uncertainties that could lead to triggering law and order violations in the region, Nehemiah Daime stated.
