Newly appointed Director General of Police (DGP) and head of Police Force, Manipur, Rajiv Singh called on Manipur Governor Anusuiya at Raj Bhavan, Imphal on Friday and discussed the restoration of normalcy and peace in the state.
A release issued by Raj Bjavan, Imphal stated that the governor instructed the newly appointed DGP to expedite the process of restoration of law-and-order situation in the state.
The governor also appealed to all to adhere to the measures put in place by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, saying it will help to restore and establish peace and normalcy in the state, it added.
Meanwhile, former state chief minister Radhabinod Koijam, on Friday evening, called on the governor and expressed grief over the ongoing turmoil in the state, the release added.
Rising prices and unavailability of essential goods along with plights of the displaced people among other issues were are discussed with the governor, it maintained.
It stated that the governor assured that various measures have been put in place for the speedy restoration of peace and normalcy in the state. She also discussed the formation of a Peace Committee and the role it will play to expedite the process of restoring peace in the state, it mentioned. The former CM made a series of suggestions for the better implementation of the Peace Committee, it added.
