The North East Students’ Organisation (NESO), expressing grave concern over the present prevailing situation in Manipur which has crossed almost six months, on Sunday resolved to stage protest demonstrations in all the respective states capital of Northeast India.
The protest will be carried out on November 9, stated a release by NESO adding that the move was taken during NESO’s executive council meeting held on October 31, 2023 in Guwahati.
Almost six months have passed but the situation has not returned to any semblance of normalcy, the student body lamented. This can be attributed to the abject failure on the part of the central government to address the situation in an efficient manner thus putting the lives and property of the people at stake especially the career of the student’s community, it alleged.
The protest is called to express strong resentment against the alleged failure of the Central Government to resolve the six months long ongoing violence in Manipur, it asserted.
It also demanded that the centre find ways and means to resolve the issue at the earliest taking into consideration the views and opinions of the concerned stakeholders on board and not continue turning a blind eye to the issue.
