Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Chandel in collaboration with KBC Centre Church Molnoi Area and Molnoi Area Youth Union (MAYU) jointly organised a ‘Neighbourhood Youth Parliament and Career Guidance Workshop’ in two sessions at KBC Centre Church Molnoi area on Saturday.
The programme was held on the G20 theme of ‘One Earth, One Life, One Future’ focussing on India’s Presidency of G20 and Y20 Summit Themes.
The morning session of Neighbourhood Youth Parliament was attended by C Lhunthang Mate, custom and culture secretary, Kuki Inpi Manipur, pastor Seikhogin Haokip, chairman KBCCC Molnoi Area and Michael Thangminlien Mate, DYO NYK Chandel as presidium members.
After a welcome address by president MAYU Mercy Haokip, the dignitaries gave speeches followed by short talks by NYK Chandel volunteers and MAYU executives on the five themes of Y20 summit- Future of Work, Climate Change and Disaster, Peacebuilding, Youth in Democracy and Health, wellbeing and Sports.
The afternoon session of career guidance was attended by Sunday School superintendent KBCCC Molnoi Area Lhingneilam Haokip, secretary KBCCC Molnoi Area Paokhosei Haokip and treasurer KBCCC Molnoi area Letkholal Mate as presidium members.
The event was conducted by the two resource persons, namely chief founder of Accelerate Coaching Institute Michael Mate, who spoke on the various job opportunities available in government and private sectors and headmaster New Vajang Govt School Seijalal Haokip who spoke about teaching as a profession and how to study effectively.
This was followed with a vote of thanks by National Youth Volunteer NYK Chandel Seitinthang Haokip. The programme was closed with a short prayer by pastor Seikhogin Haokip.
Meanwhile, as a part of weeklong Celebration of International Womens’ Day 2023, NYK Chandel and NYK Thoubal volunteers have also been conducting activities like awareness, pledge, quiz, talks and others on a daily basis at various places of Chandel and Tengnoupal from March 1, culminating with district level International Women's Day on March 8.
