National Environment Conference: Minister Biswajit puts up state action plan on climate change version-2

The two-day national environment conference of forest and climate change ministers will have six thematic sessions.

Manipur Minister Th Biswajit on Friday put up the State Action Plan on Climate Change version 2 at the two-day national environment conference of forest and climate change ministers at Ekta, Gujarat. The action plan is to be released as a state policy document in the near future.

The two-day conference, organised on September 23 and 24, will have six thematic sessions with topics focusing on Life, Combating Climate Change (Updating State Action Plans on Climate Change for Mitigation of Emissions and Adaptation to Climate Impacts); PARIVESH (Single Window System for Integrated Green Clearances); Forestry Management; Prevention and Control of Pollution; Wildlife Management; Plastics and Waste Management.

From Manipur, Minister of Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Th Bishwajit Singh; MLA Usam Deven along with M H Khan, additional chief secretary (Forests, Environment and Climate Change) Aditya Joshi PCCF and Brajakumar, joint director (Environment and Climate Change) are attending the event.

PM Modi inaugurated the conference online. Union Forests, Environment and Climate Change Minister Bhupender Yadav, and MoS for Environment and Climate Change were also in the conference for the full session.

The conference is being convened to create further synergy among the Central and state governments in formulating better policies on issues such as Elimination of Plastic Pollution through a multi-pronged approach, State Action Plans to combat Climate Change with a focus on Life effectively- Lifestyle for Environment. It will also focus on increasing the forest cover with particular emphasis on restoration of degraded land and wildlife conservation.
