Muvanlai Athletics, KYVO keep their hope alive in 63rd CC Meet

Muvanlai Athletics, Kangpokpi kept their hopes alive of making it to the last eight stages holding WAFA Wangoi by 2-2 goals in the 63rd Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Invitation Football Tournament 2021-22 organised by All Manipur Football Association at Artificial Turf, Lamlong Thongkhong.

With the league closing in for its fag end, Muvanlai Athletics cling their hope alive as they managed the drawn result to share a point each. Vice versa, it could be a WAFA game as well as they have one more match at their hand as well from Group E.

KRFC Sagang are with 6 points from 4 matches while Muvanlai Athletics have 5 points, WAFA Wangoi have 4 points, KYVO Kwasiphai with 4 points and LYCC, Chandel have 3 points from 3 matches each.

Goalless in the first half, WAFA Wangoi who had a slow progress in the league, makes up for the lost ground with H.Sanut Tellyson bringing up the opening goal in 51 minute. However Muvanlai Athletics were swift in their reply as Mangtinsei came up with the equaliser in 52 minute.

With the battle line drawn, Muvanlai Athletics raised the bar when Ngam Minlenngou consolidates in 56 minute for the lead. As tempo of the game hots up, WAFA Wangoi gets the needed goal from Kishan Naorem in 65 minute to level 2-2 goals till the final whistle to share a point each.

WAFA players Th.Thomas, L.Ajit and Muvanlai Athletics players Ngamminlegou, SL Seiminthang got yellow cards in the match from referee Joysing Monsang.

In the other match, KYVO Kwasiphai beat KRFC Sagang by 2-1 goals, to stay in contention as well.
Surjakanta scored both the goals for KYVO team in 15 minute and 70 minute of play.

As for the KRFC, Joel Kom fetched the lone goal in the dying minute of 90 plus 7 minute of the game. KYVO players Inakhunba and Nanao received yellow cards from referee Th.Arunkumar Singh.
