Speaking to the media on Sunday at the Manipur Press Club, JAC convenor Pebam Govinchand, who is also a candidate, said that directorate of education (S) announced 413 posts for MTS as 2016-18 batch, following which a written test was conducted. It has been seven to eight years but the result is yet to be announced.

Around 26,000 candidates took part in the exam but the recruitment process has been stalled, causing frustration among candidates, he said.

Candidates even sought appointments with the chief minister for the last seven to eight years, but the CM never gave a chance to meet, Govinchand said.

He also expressed concerns and said that many of the candidates, about 50 percent, are nearing the age bar.

He also pointed out that MLA Ranjit moved the query for delay in the recruitment process on the floor of the ongoing assembly and that the response from education minister was unsatisfactory.

“We demand the education minister to order the results be release by August 6. If not, the JAC plans to intensify hunger strike agitation starting from August 7”, Govinchand said.
