The Secretariat of Health department, following the notification of 2016, selected 378 candidates of grade-IV MTS post and some candidates were listed in the waiting lists, a waiting list candidate Thoithoi Ngairangbam said in a press meet held at Manipur Press Club on Sunday.

There were vacancies for 113 candidates lying at the state Directorate of Health Service on August 7, 2017, she added.

The secretary of state Health and Family Welfare conveyed a letter to the government to appoint the waiting list candidates for the vacant posts. Further, the director of health services Manipur also sent a letter of proposal to the government to appoint the waiting list candidates of grade-IV MTS on October 27, 2017, she added.

The candidate said the waiting list candidates also filed multiple applications to director and secretary of Health and Services, Manipur in 2018. The government has not considered their multiple requests, she further said.

She said they had filed a writ petition before the High Court of Manipur in December 2018, and the High Court on February 7, 2020 directed the state government to pass a suitable order within a period of eight weeks by giving fair opportunities to the waiting list candidates.

Following the direction of the court, the waiting list candidates submitted the representation to the Directorate of Health Services in a week, she said. It has been almost a year since the passing of the direction from the High Court but no positive response has come from the government as well as the directorate, she added.

Therefore, the waiting list candidates are drawing the attention of the chief minister to look into the matter in interest of giving fair opportunity to the candidates. She said the candidates have been waiting to get appointments on grade-IV MTS since 2016.
