MSPDCL conducts raids, detects 31 cases of power theft

Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL) conducted raids on Wednesday and Thursday to crackdown on power theft in various areas across the state.

In a bid to curb the menace of electricity theft in the state, the Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL) conducted raids on Wednesday and Thursday to crackdown on power theft in various areas across the state.

A team of MSPDCL officials carried out the drive during which they found 29 HT consumers indulging in unauthorized use of supply, while 2 LT consumers have been arrested for power theft, a release by MSPDCL General Manager (Commercial), Ng Kirankumar Singh stated.

The team detected 4 (four) cases of failure to pay the power bill from the Kakching division area; 10 similar cases from the Bishnupur division area; 3 from the Thoubal division area; seven from IED-2; four from IED-3 and 1 from the Churachandpur division area, it asserted. Following which MSPDCL has disconnected power lines of the defaulting consumers, it mentioned.

Meanwhile, the team also arrested two individuals indulging in power theft from Wangkhei sub division area, it noted. MSPDCL will continue to conduct drives to check electricity theft in various areas, it added.
